Matching Grant, 11/11/11 iChallenge, National Training & More!

MATCHING DONATION GRANT:  We have a donor offering to match every donation of any amount up to $25,000!  This means that your giving will be doubled!  Now is the time to support Florida's first and only human trafficking survivor-led community service agency.  In 2010 92% of giving went to Program Services and since 2005, we've served over 600 clients. Please consider partnering with us today as we educate the community and reach, rescue, and restore victims of commercialized sexual exploitation and sex slavery. 

11/11/11 iCHALLENGE:  The Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Student Abolitionist Movement (SAM), FGGU Honors Program, and the FGCU Office of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement are teaming up to put on a 3 part Fundraising Event to benefit Beauty From Ashes™ (BFA) Ministries.

Part I, on October 5th, kicked off the BFA fund raising campaign, the 11-11-11 iChallenge to Fight Human.

Part II is a movie night on campus featuring the film "Very Young Girls", Wednesday November 2nd 6-10pm on the library lawn of FGCU  (Free popcorn!).  Bring a blanket and/or lawn chair and join us!  

Part III is a banquet. Speakers include myself, Salvation Army's Myrna Molinari, and Women at Risk (WAR) International's founder, Becky McDonald on Friday, November 18th in the Student Union, Room 214 5-8pm. (Free food!) 

What is the 11/11/11 iChallenge?
For any person who donates at least $11 their name will be entered into drawing for $111. And for the person who donates at least $11 and collects $11 from 11 of their friends ($121) their name will be entered into a larger prize drawing.  The winners of the prize drawings will be announced at the banquet on November 18th.  To give securely online, CLICK HERE and take the 11/11/11 iChallenge!  For more information, CLICK HERE

STAFF SEARCH:  The BFA Personnel Search Committee, in collaboration with one of our partners, is accepting applications for a Clinical Program Manager, Residential Program Manager, and Case Workers. Computer/Internet competency and knowledge of human trafficking is required. Positions are in Florida. NATIONAL SEX INDUSTRY OUTREACH & AFTERCARE TRAINING: Find out how human trafficking is connected to the sex industry, learn unique outREACH strategies and how to implement them, how to best serve clients, mental health challenges you'll face, the ABC's to building and training your team, how to care for your aftercare workers, community engagement, how to develop sustainability, and MORE!  There is a limited number of seats and they are filling fast!  For more information and to register, CLICK HERE. Revised curriculum provided by the Dept. of Health & Human Services Capacity Building Grant.    

OUTREACH GIFT & CARE PACKAGE ASSEMBLY 1st & 2nd FRIDAYS:  Every month, BFA distributes between 50-100 outREACH gift and care packages to victims and survivors of human trafficking locally and nationally.  On the 1st and 2nd Fridays of the month from 9am-noon we meet to assemble these gifts of love, hope, and truth.  We meet in Room 500-5 of Barry University.  Our next meetings are November 4th & 11th.  Make plans to join us today!  Learning and community service hours available. 

THANKS TO GIRL SCOUTS:  A huge THANKS to the Girl Scouts of Gulf Coast Florida for inviting me to open and present on what true beauty is at their True Beauty Festival this past Saturday in Sarasota, FL. I also had the privilege to lead workshops on Goal Setting and their community project was making adorable, handmade, butterfly magnets for our outREACH & care packages.  I am looking forward to returning for the Girls Protecting Girls Event in February to present 'Identifying Signs of Trafficking and Self Awareness."   If you're interested in these multi-media presentations, please contact me. 

UPCOMING AWARENESS/EDUCATION EVENTS: November 1st, I'll be presenting at the Salvation Army's National Trafficking Council and we are partnering with the Florida Nurses Association and churches nationwide for events.  For more info, CLICK HERE.
